“The Ballad of Ironbell” sung to the tune of “Tin Tallie Tore”
In ancient days of lore beneath old Rolder’s Keep,
Where silver, gold, and more were found in caverns deep,
The bones of Ironbell lie lonely on his throne,
Caught in a dragon’s spell he sits there all alone.
The diggers they did find a cavern full of jewels.
Great treasure in the ground and so they brought their tools.
Hammers rang loud and long and such noise they did make,
And that is why they say the dragon they did wake
Ancient wyrm of thunder. Ancient flame of evil.
Mountain it did sunder scattering the people.
Ironbell the mighty. Warrior strong and tall.
He came to Rolders Keep in answer to their call
He fought the beast with skill. He fought with cunning might.
The battle raged all day and well into the night.
Ironbell the hero. His heart strong and true.
And with his faithful ax, the dragon he did slew.
Saved from the dreaded beast the people gave a cheer
But tricky is the fiend that caused us so much fear.
While dying on its gold, it cast an evil spell.
And through it trapped the mind of the brave Ironbell.
Coins and gems and jewels he hoarded so much stuff.
A thirst for more and more. No riches were enough.
He would not eat or drink and madness seemed to grow.
The gold that he did touch he could not let it go.
In ancient days of lore beneath old Rolder’s Keep,
Where silver, gold, and more were found in caverns deep,
The bones of Ironbell lie lonely on his throne,
Caught in a dragon spell he sits there all alone.
