Red dragons are one of the most dangerous and powerful monsters but even a red dragon has its bad days. Let me tell you the tale of Pythox the Unlucky. Years ago, there lived a red dragon named Pythox, a mighty beast who had terrorized cities, ruined farms, and made life a misery for anyone who came close to its mountain home. The general opinion of the locals was that the dragon needed to go. However, many would-be hereos challenged Pythox and all pf them met a most gruesome end in the dragon’s belly. That is until Pythox fought the Toy Soldiers, a group of halfling adventurers lead by the famous Tyler Tumblebeam.
The TS marched into the dragon cave and it seemed like a typical battle. The heroes issued their challenge. The dragon laughed at the group and did its standard evil monologue. All per usual but something was off. Pythox’s heart was really not into it. He had woken up with a toothache. He had burnt his breakfast. He had accidentally broken an expensive vase. He had found a kidnapped princess he’d forgotten to feed. It had been a bad day. As such, Pythox’s cruel mockery lacked its typical intimidating with and presence. The TS did not cower in fear. Not a good start and the rest of the battle did not go in the dragon’s favor.
First, Pythox tried to stomp on the soldiers but he missed and stepped on an old suit of armor instead. The armor pierced his foot. The dragon then reared back to unleash its devastating breath weapon but an unexpected gust of wind caused the flames to fly back in the dragon’s face momentarily blinding it. All the while, the TS hammered away at its armor with their tiny weapons causing little pinpricks of pain. Angry and annoyed, the dragon lashed out with its tail but snagged it on a rogue stalagtite, which caused Pythox to stumble and crash to the ground. The crash destabalized the cave roof and huge rocks began to fall on everyone. One of the rocks struck Pythox on the head stunning him. Another rock hit an old adventurer’s pack that contained some unstable alchemy fire potions. They exploded sending shrapnel flying in every direction. One of the shrapnel pieces flew into the dragon’s mouth and straight into his brain and killing him instantly. Pythox was dead.
Sometimes a farmer with a pitchfork stabs a dragon. Sometimes the dragon trips and falls on the pitchfork.
